Kangana Ranaut wins Best Actress Award at SIIMA Awards. Kangana's performance in Thalaivii is one of her most critically performance. She essayed the role as former Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa in the biographical drama film.
The SIIMA (South Indian International Movie Awards) are South India's Biggest Awards Show. Kangana Ranaut won the SIIMA Award for the Best Actress in a Leading Role Category for Tamil Film. Kangana couldn't attend the ceremony as she was shooting & directing for her upcoming film 'Emergency' in Delhi. The film's co-producer Brinda Prasad accepted the award on her behalf.

Kangana Ranaut dedicated her SIIMA award to Thalaivii team. After the prestigious award ceremony, she shared multiple video on her Instagram story while dedicating the award to her team and the late J. Jayalalithaa. She also shared a few fan made clips from the film while thanked her director A. L Vijay for his 'amazing' vision and direction that led to a spectacular watch in theatres.

Thalaivii is 2021 biographical drama film based on the life of former actor and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The film features Kangana as Jayalalithaa and South superstar Arvind Swami as M. G. Ramachandran. The drama explores the relationship between Jayalalithaa and MGR and the former’s rise as an actor and a politician. The film is helmed by A. L. Vijay and written by K. V. Vijayendra Prasad, Madhan Karky (Tamil), and Rajat Arora (Hindi).
